“Mother of God!”
This was our literal response to the first bite of Sans Bakery’s gluten-free brownie, which we consider to be a genuine contender for the best gluten free brownie ever.
More often than not, gluten-free brownies disappoint, either being not chocolatey enough, not moist enough, or just not enough enough. But this brownie from New York City’s Sans Bakery is genuinely shocking. It’s more than enough-enough. It’s downright awesome.
Deeply, deeply chocolatey with the slightest kiss of coffee, dense enough to be more chewy brownie than crumbly cake yet fluffy enough to nod at fudge without slipping into cloyingly overwhelming, it’s as close to store-bought brownie perfection as we’ve come.
The only thing “sans” about this beautiful block of awesomeness is its name. Oh yes, and its ingredients; there’s not a spec of gluten to be found, making us deem this brownie sans-ational.
At around $4 each, these individually wrapped treats are expensive. But they’re so satisfying, they are worth the expense. Plus, they make a great gift for a deserving gluten-free friend.
