Maple-Spiced Pear Chips Recipe

MAKES ABOUT 50 PEAR CHIPS Chips keep for 1 week stored airtight at room temperature.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium firm-ripe pears
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon gluten-free pumpkin pie spice mix or ground cloves or cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Position racks in the upper and lower third of the oven and preheat to 200°F. Line two rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  2. Using a mandoline, slice each pear into pieces 1/4 inch thick. Arrange the slices in one layer without touching on the prepared baking sheets. Brush each slice with a bit of maple syrup and a sprinkle of the spice mix.

  3. Bake the chips for 1-1/2 hours, remove from the oven, and flip them. Continue baking until the chips are crisp, 45 to 60 minutes longer. Let cool completely on the baking sheets, then serve or transfer to an airtight container.
